NDIS Participants can be supported in a number of different ways to live in a variety of differing living situations with varying levels of support.
A Home and Living assessment is conducted to determine the most appropriate living situation (type of accommodation) and the level of supports required, to meet (where possible) the desires of the NDIS Participant.
The NDIS have clear guidelines as to what they will and won’t fund or support. totallyOT can work with individuals and their support networks to discuss options and to then gather and provide evidence to be considered by the NDIS for a housing and support solution.
The Home and Living Assessment is a more in-depth assessment than an FCA specifically focussed on the housing and associated support needs of an individual.
totallyOT will meet with all relevant parties, discuss and person’s support needs, challenges with current arrangements and potential solutions within the NDIS guidelines and present a comprehensive report with a specific recommendation in one of these options. E.g. Supported Independent Living (SIL), Individualised Living Options (ILO) or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or a combination of Assistive Technology, Modifications and Support Workers.
Often this process requires multiple discussions and evidence of any rosters of care (ROC), incidents, issues or risks will be requested. Specifically information about a 24 hour period (weekday and weekends) will be sought, to be able to clinically justify the ratios of staff to residents and number of hours required in any individual situation. Additionally, totallyOT will compare the options against the current marketplace for vacancies etc.
